Open Source Software for Non-Government Organisations

Introduction

This site has grown from The Wilderness Society's project to evaluate [Content Management Systems on Debian|Open Source Content Management Systems]. This project produced quite a lot of material as 14 CMSs were installed and reviewed to various depths. The Midgard Content Management Framework was the one finally selected and a new website was built utilising this CMS. You can see the documentation about this implementation [Website Implementation with Midgard|here].

Currently the documentation is created using the Drupal Content Management System's Collaborative Books feature. You can access it either by clicking on collaborative book in the navigation bar or clicking here.

I aim to try and document my efforts to discover and utilise Open Source Software that might be useful to people, especially those involved with Non-Government or Not-for-Profit Organisations. It may well be useful for others but I single out these groups because the collaborative nature and ethics behind Free/Open Source Software and importantly its price will appeal to such groups.
