Adding modules to a newly compiled Kernel is very simple, but essential to geting all the various aspects of the new kernel working.

Simply use modconf

Individually select each module by name and say [yes] to the question "Install the module to the kernel?"

Note:

a couple of the modules wouldn't load. Most notable of these were the thermal stuff (opsm_thermal) and Radeon Frame Buffer (radeonfb),
